A new site

After loosing my password for a long time, I recovered it.
I change the site from .com to .org since it is not a commercial site after all.

I divided it to sections and according to your questions I will add more subjects.

I'm currently working on figures of speech used in the Bible and on a complete HOW TO read the Holy Bible.

I do work more on the new site since I changed my Web hosting provider.

A couple of friends asked me why I did this site, so I decided to write a page explaining my reasons, which you can read.

It is a little hard to put all my notes on line, but I'm working on it...

I added a few more studies. One for Abraham, wich will be a lot of pages, I finished the introduction. One for the twelve apostles and their deaths, that will grow too.
I also made the study on Abigail into a pdf that you can download from the web site now.

My friendTodd shared with us last week. I'll get his permision and add the sermon to the site. Here are my notes.

2Tim 2:7
The Lord gives the understanding. You cannot have the knowledge of God if He has not revealed it to you.
There is a wall between flesh and spirit.

Luke 24:25,26,27
We may wish that we were there but we are! Jesus is alive and he opens our heart for all that it is written about Him, even now.
:28-30
He opened their eyes, not themselves.
They want Jesus to stay with them.
He is the bread of life.
Christ is giving us the bread.

Jesus is alive, he teaches us. 'Think what I say, but He gives the understanding.' Whatever we know about God comes from God.

Gal 1:11-12
Paul did not go to school to learn about Him, he had a relationship with Him. He was not tought the gospel it was by revelation.
None can understand the Holy Spirit without a spirit. e.g. Elijah's servant and the armies of God.
Until He opens our eyes we are blind.

3:4 by reading. the knowledge of God is revelation.
it leads ... to the whole truth
the knowledge of Jesus Christ is increased (NOT the knowledge of the scriptures) via the spirit.
It makes contact with the flesh (our mind is flesh after all)
The comforter leads us not to Himslef but to Jesus

We should seek Him, ask Him
For every step of faith we make He makes 2 steps of grace!

He will talk to you. The voice of the Lord (not His writings, the scriptures, but His voice) can be recognized. He is willing to listen to us. 'He dwells in the praise of His saints'... 'Enter into His gates with thanksgiving', we need to praise Him more.

Until He gives the Kingdom over to the Father, He still lives, is the mediator, the Lord and works in this earth for God.

The essence of Christianity is to have that contact (flesh-spirit) that imposible one ;)

abound in everything

2 Corinthians 8:7 (New King James Version)

⁷But as you abound in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us--see that you abound in this grace also

Yesterday at fellowship we talked about this verse.

It is interesting that it says you abound, not I wish that you abound. Paul takes it for granded that those believers do abound in all 5 things. He exorts them for one more.

That's the verse we read about this subject: Note the abundant-abound pattern.

Philippians 1

5And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, ²⁶that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Mark 11

²²So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. ²³For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. ²⁴Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Many quote this passage without reference to verse 22 which puts everything in context. If a zillion people believe and pray that the earth is flat, no matter how strong they do it, it will never happen. Possitive thinking and believing does not change things. Faith in God and his word is the necessary ingridient. We can claim a promise written not our own imagination.

1 Thessalonians 4

¹ Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God;

1 Corinthians 12

¹ Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:

Comments:
faith is pistis - not believing the verb but as a noun
speech is logos - the word of God
knowledge is gnosi - not wisdom
diligence is spoudi - used both for study and haste
love is agape - not eros or fileo
grace is charis - used specificaly for giving and receiving here. Very close to 1 Peter's 2 definition of grace
¹⁹τουτο γαρ χαρις ει δια συνειδησιν θεου υποφερει τις λυπας πασχων αδικως
¹⁹For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.

While this is the only other definition-like verse in the scriptures (the other one being Heb 11:1 " now faith is..." and it says "now grace is..." there is no way to understand that it talks about grace in the English text.
It is in harmony with the corinthian's verse, since giving material things does bring grief and is suffering a lot of times when there is no abundance.

I am thinking on expanding it a bit and add it as a page to the www.read-bible.org site. It will be more than one page a guess.
